What did you do this weekend?
Because my mom drove me!!! Yup, my mom has a car. It is a Kia Sorrento and her bosses bought it for her. Lucky duck. They bought it for her because they want to do some RV traveling and they want her to have a vehicle to do what she needs to do. They are so great.
Anyway, I spent Saturday going through boxes of paperwork and sorted them into filing, recipes, craft project ideas, organizational/household stuff, and knitting patterns. Then, I sorted each into categories to be put away. I even made a pretty good pile of patterns that I will never knit so I am going to be giving some away in a swap.
Saturday evening, mom came over to show me her new car and we had hamburgers, oven fries and homemade remoulade sauce. Yum. Then, we went to the Dollar Store for dog food and peroxide and to Walmart to return a shirt that didn’t fit Princess Ivi.
Saturday night, after Mom went home, Princess Ivi and I watched A Sound of Thunder. This was really good. I expected it to be some cheesy, B movie but it was good.
Sunday morning, Mom picked us up and we went to church where she made a testimonial about how God has made a difference in her life and we all cried.
Sunday afternoon, we went to Gainesville to the library and I picked up some knitting books.
Sunday evening was spent putting paperwork away, eating a tomato sandwich and watching 2012 (which I thought was really good). I love John Cusack and for everyone else who loves him, here is a pic to start your Monday morning off right!!!

My sister sent me a great email yesterday. This was the opening pic.
Isn’t it funny?
It also contained these bits of wisdom…

3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.
SUCCESS:

Coolest clock…I want one
I saw this on Craftzine today.
It’s a clock. It knits one round on this scarf every 24 hours. This is so cool. I really want one but I think it is beyond me. For more info on the clock check out the article on designboom.
Casting on…
I actually started a knitting project last night. I started the gauge swatch for Sackboy which I am making for Princess Ivi’s boyfriend. He is going away to boot camp in the fall so hopefully, I will have it done by then but if not by then, definitely by Christmas. Have I mentioned how much I hate doing gauge swatches? I do. They are boring and time consuming but I guess they are a necessary evil.
It feels strange to be knitting again. Kind of like renewing a long lost friendship.
I made refrigerator pickles on Sunday. I already sampled them because I couldn’t wait the two days the recipe called for. They are good but a bit too salty. I am hoping that the salt issue is just because it was the bottom of the brine pitcher and that the first container made is not so salty. Of course, I will still eat them anyway.

I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it….
So one of my favorite authors is Shannon K. Butcher. I love her series, The Sentinels. The books are great and the covers are very yummy. Anyway, the other day (on the 30th), I was curious about something and went to her website to check it out and she had a monthly contest for a giveaway. She was giving away Running Scared. I entered, not expecting much since I have pretty bad luck and since it was the last day of the contest. Well, guess who won an autographed copy of the book. Yup, ME. I am so excited to read this book. Here is a pic of the cover. Doesn’t he look yummy? I think it is the tattoo. Of course, the muscles don’t hurt things either.
You can check out more about Shannon and her books at her website… http://www.shannonkbutcher.com/

Perogies and Painting
Last night, I got home and Princess Ivi wanted to make dinner. She was making perogies. Yum. She had pan problems though so I took over. They were kind of bland so I made an impromptu cheese sauce for them. For future reference, it is difficult to make a cheese sauce when you have no flour. I actually used garlic powder to make the roué but I think they turned out okay.
After dinner, Princess Ivi pained her nightstand. It is now purple with gray drawers and black drawer pulls. It was yellow which is totally not Princess Ivi. Now, it looks very Dr. Seuss-ish.
While she was painting, I browsed through my Google Reader and came across the sad news that my local yarn shop is closing their brick and mortar store. Boo-hoo-hoo. I am so sad. I loved that store.
Then we watched A Walk to Remember and I watched Princess Ivi cry while watching it which is a very rare thing for her.
This morning, I woke up a little bit earlier so I could drive over and pick up Princess Ivi’s boyfriend. They went to see an 11:00 a.m. showing of Eclipse and now they are hanging at the mall. I am going to pick them up after work.
Tonight for dinner, I am making barbecued chicken legs, potato salad and green salad.
Gotta get through tonight and tomorrow and then, I have a three day weekend.
