What I’ll be doing in 2015….

For many years I made resolutions and then I never followed up on them so last year I had this brilliant idea to stop making resolutions.  The only problem….now that 2014 is over, it feels like I got accomplished nothing.  I decided that also won’t work so I’m going back to setting some goals.

2015 Goals

  • Apply to college to start in the Summer semester.
  • Make decision when it comes to work.
  • Take better care of myself by walking at least 8,000 steps a day and realistically add more until I am at over 10,000 steps; work on my flexibility by doing some yoga at least twice a week; after three months of yoga and watching what I eat and walking, transition to the Couch to 5K program; and stop eating things that are not nice to me.  (I am lactose intolerant and have been my whole life but I still ate ice cream and cheese and then just put up with being sick.  Now I resolve to stop doing that.)
  • Read some books.
  • Knit some stuff.
  • If I don’t get out of my dark place, resolve to go to a therapist.

None of these resolutions or goals are extremely difficult but I have been in a seriously blue place for the past year and I am being gentle with myself.

The only time I have been successful with my resolutions is when I quit smoking.NaBloPoMo_1214_465x287_HABIT

Knitting Resolutions

Since it is the first day of 2010, I thought it would be appropriate to list my knitting resolutions.

1. Compete in the Ravelympics.

2. Work on my Ravelry queue to complete projects using stashed yarn.

3. Participate in Ravelry's 2010 Christmas Make Ahead Group so I am ahead of my holiday knitting.

4. Knit as much as I can.

5. Attend the knitting group at least once a month, if not more.

6. Burn through stash.

10 New Year's Resolutions

I don't normally make resolutions because I hardly ever keep them but I am going to try this year.

1. Blog more regularly (every other day, every three days, etc.).
2. Take more photographs.
3. Get out and explore more whether it is going to parks, museums, or just driving around.
4. Go to the gym.
5. Go to the knitting group at least one Sunday a month.
6. Do something with the fleece (alpaca and llama).
7. Look on the bright side as much as possible.
8. Enjoy my time with Princess Ivi. It goes by too quickly!!
9. Knit more. See Knitting Resolutions to come.

Can't think of anymore....may edit to add #10 later.

Intention and Regret

On my daily blog readings, I came across this posting by EtherKnitter with respect to her resoltions for the year:

Live with intention. We never know how much time we have, or what might impede our ability to appreciate what we have. The universe is 15 billion years old. Our lifespan is smaller than a dust-mote in comparison. Each moment is wonderful and precious. I intend to remember that more often.

Well said.

I am also going to try to not live with regrets. Mistakes are made and the key is to learn from them.

Brainstorming...

I recently read a post on someone’s blog and they mentioned creating a list of knitting related things they want to accomplish in the new year. I am the type of person who makes new year’s resolutions (i.e., exercise more, eat less, stay in touch with friends more, etc.) but each year I find that those things don’t get accomplished.

But I think a list of knitting resolutions may be more doable. So I am brainstorming about what I want to accomplish with my knitting next year.

Here is my list so far:

1. Knit the Free Knitting Pattern Holiday Ornament from Lionbrand for each person on my list.

2. Knit a complete pair of socks for my sister. (Either Cranberry Biscotti or Vivace Socks).

3. Knit a complete pair of socks for my mom including a pair of slipper socks.

4. Finish Isaac’s 2nd sweater before it no longer fits him.

5. Knit at least three projects from my Ravelry queue.

6. Blog about knitting more.

7. Make knitted jewelry (like Bijouterie, Chandelier Earrings,

8. Buy Noro Daria Multi and make the Daria bracelet for gifts.

It is a start.
